The NY Times has an article on Google's search algorithm today. If you're thinking of competing, here's one good idea:

... Google does more than simply build an outsized, digital table of contents for the Web. Instead, it actually makes a copy of the entire Internet — every word on every page — that it stores in each of its huge customized data centers so it can comb through the information faster.

I recommend you use internal hard drives in your PC for this, not those external USB models. You know, otherwise all the wires will get tangled and you'll wind up unplugging all the Spanish pages some day.
