One cannot escape noticing the change in the tone of US news outlets as approval ratings for Bush have dropped. As many others have commented, reporters' questions have become more aggressive and their skepticism at the freeze-dried answers more pronounced. It alters my view of the role of the 4th estate to think that they now act only as an accelerant to movements in a president's popularity, not as the catalyst for that change. Has it always been this way?

About Me
- Name: Mateu
- Location: Portland, Oregon, United States
Stampeding Caribou dislodged the ice floe where I had been frozen for 71 years. I landed on the shore of Īles-de-la-Madeleine where a motel manager promptly gave me a job cleaning bathrooms. After three years of saving tips and stealing change left by lodgers, I paid my way to America. Seeking toilet scrubbing work in Owego, NY, I accidentally boarded a bus to Lake Oswego, OR. Now I live in Portland.
